TURNING GREEN WITH STYLE
Can you be green and stylish at the same time? Of course, especially if you shop at the new Road Less Traveled store in Santa Ana.
Owner Delilah Snell dispels the myth that loving the environment means sacrificing fashion. She created a store where eco-friendly hip apparel and home accessories co-exist.
Road Less Traveled carries environmentally conscious, original furniture and lighting, organic cotton and hemp clothing, bath and bed linens. Popular items include Random Nicole ribbed tanks with recycled appliqué hearts and daisies, and baby onesies. From a women’s co-op in Brazil comes Escama, a line of handmade woven soda pop caps made into purses, messenger and cosmetic bags.
The Road Less Traveled also carries bioplastics: disposable paper plates, utensils and “plastic cups” made from corn, potato starch and sugarcane.
"They decompose in 120 days, rather than 450 years for plastic," Snell said. "Many people buy them for events, BBQs, and weddings for people who want an eco-touch."
The store has 100% organic baby clothing, skincare and toys; one-of-a-kind fair-trade gifts are made from recycled objects; and for the home, tile, flooring and fabric samples.
