The new striking state-of-the-art Environmental Nature Center (ENC) in Newport Beach -- which provides a hands-on education about mother nature -- is a green building inside and out and well worth a visit.
The nonprofit ENC offers an indoor-outdoor educational habitat where you can learn about sustainable living and building, natural resources, wild animal and plant life.
Enjoy the Discovery Room where you can touch and investigate nature, sign up your kids for the fabulous Nature Camp, wander through its outdoor environs, or watch butterflies flutter at the Butterfly House.
The ENC hosts a series of free monthly lectures. Today at 7 p.m. join Rachel Hulan of Path Design, a full service design and consulting firm in Santa Ana. Rachel will give a presentation on beautiful eco-friendly interiors.
She'll share ways of implementing sustainable design principles at home and at the office. And she'll bring samples of the latest and greatest in green design materials.
You can also get a tour of the ENC building Saturday at 7 p.m. and learn tips and techniques on how to make your home or business more energy efficient.
And on Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. there's a lecture on eco-friendly kitchens by Delilah Snell, owner of the Road Less Traveled Store in Santa Ana. Delilah will share eco-friendly tips on kitchen items and tools.
