Upscale sushi cuisine, upbeat music and a stimulating ambiance are three intrinsic elements of Fury Rok & Rol Sushi Lounge, a new dining spot in Newport Beach. The sushi restaurant also encompasses a super-cool ultra lounge and nightclub designed in rich, raw silk with deep red and black hues.
Fury just started serving lunch and this week it offers Greer's OC readers a free appetizer or dessert when purchasing a lunch entree. (Just mention Greer's OC or print out the Daily Dose). Open for lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Chef Sevan Azarian (classically trained under chef Joachim Splichal) created an eclectic menu that combines sushi and Pan-Asian cuisine with European influences. The restaurant's cutting-edge design, kinetic art, and minimalist Asian style offers a place to delight the senses.
Azarian's signature style is simple and eccentric dishes combined with fresh seasonal ingredients with unconventionally bold flavors and artistic presentations.
Fury serves fresh sushi, including a sexy mango roll with shrimp tempura, jalapenos, mango and spicy unagi sauce; and a kaleidoscope spicy tuna tempura, unagi, avocado and strawberries; and a bevy of tempura and sashimi.
The interesting menu includes wood-fire seared scallops with blood oranges, green risotto dollop, and Korean cantaloupe; Sea of Cortez sea bass with Kaiware sprouts, organic spinach, udon noodles, fava beans and shiitake mushrooms; salmon with candied pineapple, wok fired summer vegetables and coconut curry sauce; and wood-fired New Zealand rack of lamb with arugula, spinach, corn, cioppolino onions and pomegranate soy reduction.
Following dinner, Fury turns into a lively ultra lounge where popular DJs spin an upbeat mix of hip-hop, top 40 hits and mash-ups.
Open for lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; open for dinner 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday; 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday. 4221 Dolphin Striker Way in Newport Beach. 949.756.8800.
