Denim and diamonds, the must and the coveted, are the themes for Zmario's dinner benefiting the OC's Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. We're dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes, so we won't miss this fun event for anything.
The evening's festivities include formal and informal modeling from Apropos at Fashion Island and diamonds by Black, Starr & Frost at South Coast Plaza set to music by famed spin-master DJ Spider.
Enjoy a lavish dinner spread and cocktails courtesy of Roberto Cavalli Vodka, Frida Kahlo Tequila, Oronoko Brazillian Rum, Tanqueray Gin and wines by Hess and Jekel.
Zmario donates ticket sales and silent auction proceeds to JDRF, and Orange Coast Magazine gives half of the proceeds from all new subscriptions sold that evening.
Chef-owner Mario Boustani and newly appointed executive chef Laurent Quenioux (formerly of 7th Street Bistro in downtown LA) offer dishes from the new fusion menu of flavors from France, Italy and Spain. Zmarios new menu features arugula with fresh California figs, prosciutto, pine nuts and balsamic-orange scented vinaigrette; sauteed Northern halibut with baby carrots and a light ras el hanout jus; blackened salmon with smoky habanero mango chutney on a bed of julienne vegetables; and bone-in marbled rib eye steak in a peppercorn cream and Champagne reduction.
