LOUNGING ABOUT

The District Lounge brings a hip factor to nightlife in Old Towne Orange. It’s a long awaited bar/restaurant with live music and dancing.

Owner Mario Marovic yearned to open a restaurant or bar in this historic neighborhood -- it's where he grew up. Marovic went for a vintage 50s Spanish décor, in keeping with the character of the building. (This was originally the City of Orange's first post office.) Swank tufted black leather booths, red velvet flocked damask walls, glowing wrought-iron chandeliers, and the requisite mirrored bar make the District Lounge a devilish wonder. Entertainment is a mix of DJ's spinning a variety of music: 80s dance, swing, soul, jazz, rock and local talent.

With all that dancing and partying everyone's bound to get hungry and that's why the District serves up hearty appetizers, burgers and prime rib. It offers nachos, spinach artichoke dip, Caesar salads, and major burgers: Kobe Bleu Burgers topped with Maytag bleu cheese, apple smoked bacon, sautéed onions, with roasted garlic aioli on fresh panini and crispy district chips; or a grilled Kobe Burger with smoked cheddar cheese, beef steak tomatoes, lettuce, with roasted garlic aioli on fresh panini and district chips.

The District Lounge offers nightly events to keep things fresh. Sunday nights are Service and Salon Industry Night, where hospitality and beauty industry customers enjoy $4 martinis and half-off food. Monday nights are Downtown/Block Party night where employers of The Block and Downtown Disney enjoy $3 all beer and $4 martinis. Tuesday nights are Old Towne's Only Taco Tuesday with $1 tacos, $2 select beer, $3 sangria. Wednesday nights feature Cover Me Badd at 9 p.m. (karaoke with your own live band). Thursday nights, DJ Fstreet spins records beginning at 9 p.m. (hip-hop, soulful breaks, grooves, dub, and 80s music). Friday nights at 9 p.m. brings either Soul Hustlers, a display of soulful funk; or Upstart live music and dancing all night long. Saturday nights at 9 p.m., Argyle DJs spin a mix of lounge, hip hop, and 80's dance; or DJ Bobby Soul spins diverse dance music.

Open 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily. 223 W. Chapman Avenue in Orange. 714.639.7777.
