Tacos Fore! Charity

tacorosa

Every year the Toshiba Classic makes its way to Orange County. And every year, 75,000 gentlemen and women descend on Newport Beach in the name of golf and charity. Over the past 14 years, the event has raised over $14 million for charity. This year, golfers and spectators alike will come together on Thursday, March 15 to benefit the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital. The complimentary event, held at Taco Rosa, will be a chance for guests to relax while tasting tequila, sipping wine, eating appetizers and bidding on an auction and raffle. Some of the items include tickets to Anaheim Angel's games, a $500 dollar gift card to the Optical Shop of Aspen at Fashion Island, and many more. With the proceeds of this night helping our own safe haven of Hoag Hospital, this night should be one of charity and goodwill.

Toshiba Classic runs March 12-18th at the Newport Beach Country Club. Charity event runs Thursday, March 15th at Taco Rosa on 2621 San Miguel Road from 5-8 p.m. Auction and raffle will start at 6 p.m. RSVP is recommended at 949.720.0980 or tacorosa@gmail.com

electric car Catch a free Community Cinema  screening of "Revenge of the Electric Car" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chapman University Argyros Forum. The film focuses on thousands of electric cars that were destroyed by 2006, ironically by the same auto companies who built them. The film states that the electric car is back from the dead, championed by a handful of people determined to remake the future.

Community Cinema is a public education and civic engagement initiative featuring monthly screenings of films from Independent Lens.  Community Cinema brings together organizations, community members and public television stations to learn, discuss and get involved in today's critical social issues.
