Two OC Culinary Icons Unite for an Unforgettable Bastille Day Celebration

Two legendary Orange County chefs, Sir Bruno Serato and Pascal Olhats, are teaming up to prepare a three-course Bastille Day dinner to celebrate France's Independence Day on Sunday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the Anaheim White House. 

The evening will feature a romantic atmosphere with a French accordionist during dinner, followed by a lively performance by Can-Can dancers. Guests can choose between two appetizers — braised frog legs in a tomato and white wine sauce or Bourgogne escargot in garlic butter and herbs — and two entrees — Duck à l'Orange or Whitefish with lemon, butter, and parsley. 

The dinner will conclude with a classic Crepe Suzette. The cost is $95 per person, and reservations can be made by calling 714-772-1381 as space is limited.

Pascal Olhats has been a cornerstone of the Orange County dining scene since 1984. He has led some of the region's most esteemed restaurants, earning numerous accolades. The French-born chef owned and operated several OC establishments, including Café Jardin Restaurant & Pascal’s Tea Garden Creperie at Sherman Gardens & Library in Corona del Mar, and Pascal’s Café in San Juan Capistrano. Recently, he faced a serious health challenge after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive blood cancer. This close brush with death inspired Serato to organize this special dinner in his honor.

Sir Bruno Serato, known for overseeing the acclaimed Anaheim White House Italian Steakhouse, is also renowned for his humanitarian efforts through his nonprofit, Caterina’s Club. The organization feeds approximately 25,000 children weekly, finds permanent housing for needy families, and helps at-risk teens explore careers in hospitality. 

Serato has been honored as a CNN Hero, recognized on the steps of the U.S. Capitol by Congress members, awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, received rosary beads personally gifted by Pope Francis, and has been knighted twice, by the Italian government and the House of Savoy. He dedicates these honors to raising awareness of the challenges faced by families in Orange County.
