Looking to make spring break extra special for your kids? Sign them up for Erik Nelsen’s Quiksilver and Roxy Boys and Girls Spring Recess Surf Camp.
During the week, your kids will learn to surf, learn ocean safety, study ocean conditions, play games and make new friends.
Upon arrival Monday morning they will be introduced to the professional, safety trained instructors as well as to their new surfing friends. The surf campers will get a safety lesson from our trained staff and also listen to instruction from a Newport Beach Lifeguard to make sure they are comfortable before hitting the water. All the while, our staff will be checking the surf for the safest, most gentle waves to learn on.
After the safety lesson, the campers will hit the water with experienced surf instructors who will ensure a smooth, safe and fun transition from land to water. All basics of surfing will be taught from paddling out, getting through the waves and standing up.
Kids will also play organized beach games that teach teamwork, water skills and are also a great workout. After some light refreshments under the tents, they will hit the water again, practicing the skills learned from the daily surf lessons and learning more about wave patterns and the mechanics of catching a wave. Each day will feature a new surfing lesson as well as educational lesson about ocean safety, the tides, wave formation, and ecology.
All campers will receive a week of non-stop surfing, games and lessons as well as a pizza party, meet and greet with a pro-surfer, a goodie bag, camp t-shirt and a photo of themselves surfing.
