New Eateries at Kaleidoscope and Union Market Mission Viejo

Just in time for the summer season, Kaleidoscope in Mission Viejo is opening three new restaurants; Union Market Mission Viejo is celebrating its first restaurant opening this weekend, and the entire center’s renovations are completed.

The much-anticipated Anchor Hitch, a contemporary seafood restaurant, is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, June 4. It will be the first restaurant to debut in Union Market Mission Viejo, a contemporary and chic dining and retail concept on the upper level of Kaleidoscope.

Anchor Hitch serves most dishes family style, to encourage table interaction. Signature dishes include House Miso Clams (fresh Manila clams, mirepoix, red potatoes and Nueske bacon), Green Curried Scallop Risotto (citrus honey-glazed Hokkaido scallops, creamy green curried risotto and chopped bell peppers) and Seared Halibut (white Pacific Halibut, parsnip puree, wild foraged mushrooms, ginger, scallions, roasted corn and charred cucumber). The restaurant also has a carefully curated bar menu of handcrafted cocktails, with unique offerings such as the Yuzu Margarita with Finger Lime Caviar (Blanco tequila, yuzu and agave) and Parsnip Pearade (pear brandy, fresh parsnip juice, lime juice and pear bitters), along with wine, Champagne and an array of local craft beers.

Anchor Hitch will be open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m, and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until midnight.

Additional casual restaurants set to open this summer at Union Market Mission Viejo include Portola Coffee Roasters, OC’s award-winning specialty coffee bar; Milk Box, a healthy, playful and premium brand bringing organic ingredients to milk teas, along with boba and desserts; Hummus bowl, a fresh, organic hummus bar; Oyu Shabu, a Japanese Shabu-Shabu that offers a fun hot pot (cook-it-yourself) dining experience; Diced, offering a unique and interactive experience where guests will build their own meal with an array of fresh ingredients to suit their preference. Diners will watch the process as their bowl of rice, choice of protein, sauce, vegetable and condiment prepared to order; Dry Society, serving specialty craft cocktails and libations, using only fresh and local ingredients, and a wine bar featuring eclectic and small boutique wines. Dry Society will offer an educational and fun experience with monthly wine and spirit tastings; Market 2 Plate, offering pasta and freshly made salads; and Mole, specializing in tacos and beer.

In late June, Tacos Cancun will open its third Orange County location at Kaleidoscope, on the upper level next to Regal Cinemas. Tacos Cancun takes a healthy approach to authentic Mexican food, including numerous vegan and vegetarian options using meat substitutes and dairy-free alternatives. The menu also features traditional Mexican plates from generations-old family recipes, such as Carne Asada, a Machaca Burrito, homemade flan and more. Tacos Cancun at Kaleidoscope will also feature its popular Taco Bar Buffet on Tuesdays, as well as serve beer and wine. Tacos Cancun will on the upper level of Kaleidoscope next to Regal Cinemas.

Panini Café, a favorite Mediterranean-inspired concept in LA and OC, will open in late 2017 next to Burke Williams Spa in a new space off Crown Valley Parkway.

Kaleidoscope is at 27741 Crown Valley Parkway in Mission Viejo.
