The latest and greatest food delivery app is UberEATS – offering the fastest delivery times in the world. UberEATS is currently in 22 cities globally. Los Angeles, San Diego, Atlanta, Austin, Brooklyn, Chicago, Dallas, Edmonton, Houston, London, Melbourne, Miami, New York, Ottawa, Paris, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Francisco - East Bay, Seattle, Singapore, Toronto and Washington DC.
And UberEATS expanded to Orange County (Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and parts of Irvine) several months ago. Unlike most delivery services there is no additional tip or service fee - just a flat $5 delivery fee to customers.
It’s not only a win for you--the hungry customer---restaurant owners in Orange County are seeing an increase in business.
“Introducing UberEATS OC has had a significant impact on how we can better reach a new audience of app-driven eaters looking for that convenience factor from ordering to delivery. We launched the service just two months ago and not only have seen new guests take an interest to our menu, but we’ve seen a growth in incremental sales that did not exist before UberEATS, as we did not offer delivery,” said Hugo Moreno, Director of Operations for Block 16 Hospitality, the parent company of Holstein’s Shakes and Buns at South Coast Plaza. Seeing the additional marketing reach and the uptick in revenue at Holsteins Shakes and Buns Orange County, we have also introduced the same UberEATS service to our sister property in San Diego – Flour & Barley – Brick Oven Pizza.”
The Halal Guys opened its first brick and mortar eatery in Costa Mesa a year ago and now with UberEATS, it’s gaining even more fans. "Our team is passionate about sharing our food with all of our fans,’ said Nicole Villa at Halal Guys. “We’re always looking for innovative ways to reach out to new guests that haven’t had a chance to try us yet. With UberEats, we can get our delicious platters to more people and reach busy customers who may not have time to visit our stores."
You can even get our favorite beignets outside of New Orleans delivered from the new Lighthouse Bayview Café in Newport Beach. “UberEats delivery service has been an exciting vehicle to provide local Newport Beach residence and offices with the opportunity to enjoy our great cuisine without leaving their home or office,” said Tad Belshe at Lighthouse Café. “UberEats supplied a simple tablet, orders come directly to the restaurant and our culinary team quickly prepares the ordered meals based on the pick-up time. UberEats drivers have been “Johnny-on-the-spot” with their pick-ups and our guests have commented on the ease and speed of service and we love it as we know our guest are enjoying their favorite Lighthouse meals more frequently, albeit without the waterfront view!”
Chef/owner Jared Jones at Beach Barrel Grill in Newport Beach said, “UberEATS has literally taken away my in-house deliveries due to its high volume of orders they are giving us and not having to pay an extra employee to deliver for us and cutting down our labor. They do take a heavy 30% per order, but they also bring in an extra $1800-2000 per week for us and only growing.”
Jones has noted some UberEATS cons though that need improving. “They haven't trained their drivers for food delivery, as in some don't understand that the food needs to stay hot. Also, uber has given the drivers only a little hand bag that is barely a hot bag," Jones said.
"So when ordering large orders or even just a large pizza, they cannot put them into a hot bag. So far we haven't gotten any complaints, but pizzas need to be in a hot bag! Other than that, the service is amazing for someone like us who does more takeout than dine in.”
