Soft-shell crab season is back! In celebration of the summer delicacy, Bluewater Grill Newport Beach and Bluewater Grill Tustin are offering inaugural soft-shell crab tastings and month long soft-shell crab feasts.
The Bluewater “Get Crabby” Tasting on Tuesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. features soft-shell crab prepared two ways – sautéed with crab lemon caper beurre blanc with fingerling potato salad and vinegar aioli and tempura-style and served with Asian vegetable salad and cilantro vinaigrette – paired with a Kungfu Girl Riesling from Washington and an Acrobat Pinot Gris from Oregon.
This cost is $34.95 per person, and reservations are recommended. The special feast can be ordered off the menu throughout the month and paired with the featured varietal.
Soft-shell crab are blue crabs that are in a transition stage—they’ve just shed their hard exoskeletons and are entirely edible.
The soft-shell crab tasting is part of the Bluewater's popular Tuesday Night Tasting Series that combines seasonal seafood and shellfish with wine, beer or sake and commentary by the restaurants’ resident seafood experts.
Bluewater Grill is committed to offering sustainable seafood that complies with sustainability standards established by the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach or other third-party organizations dedicated to fish-origin certification.
The original Bluewater Grill Newport Beach is at 630 Lido Park Drive in Newport Beach. 949.675.3474.
Bluewater Grill Tustin is at 2409 Park Ave. in Tustin. 714.258.3474.
