The new Tru Grits is a must for anyone who loves chef-inspired modern American Asian cuisine. It’s inside the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Anaheim. Executive chef Theresa Lin Cheng and the super-talented chef Jonathan Hua start from scratch every day with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients that come straight from their dedicated farmers in Bakersfield, and on-site vegetable garden.
Executive chef Theresa has written 16 Chinese cookbooks and is a widely celebrated Taiwanese chef. Her extensive achievements include her role as the executive food stylist for Eat Drink Man Woman, an Oscar-nominated film, and having served as the catering director for the Academy Award winning film Life of Pi. Together chefs Theresa and Jonathan created a delicious menu of Asian inspired comfort foods with their own twist.
The menu is broken down to include Bar Favors such as Seared Pot Stickers, and Organic Garlic Edamame; Shareables such as Anaheim Brewery IPA Fish & Chips, Deconstructed Sushi Roll and Loco Carne Asada Poutine Fries; Knife & Fork (or main entrees) include Homemade Savory Meatloaf, Signature Chicken & Waffles; and Handhelds such as Club 12+21 French Dip Baguette and Handcrafted Bulgogi Grilled Cheese. There are also Pasta & Noodles and Chef’s Specials. Favorites from the menu include Braised Pork Belly Bao Bun, a toasted bao bun with pickled vegetables, and braised sauce reduction; Hoki Poke Salad with salmon, ahi, cucumber, seaweed salad and spring mix; The Best Fried Chicken Burger Ever with Brioche, tomato, jalapeno-lime slaw and gochujang mayo; and Taiwanese Minced Pork Wrap with broken pancake, cucumber and cilantro. Save room for the Tru Grits Sizzling Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream, sea salt caramel, and candied pecans.
