Mama’s On 39 turns 5

In honor of its five-year anniversary, restaurant Mama’s on 39 in Huntington Beach will be selling Thrifty Ice Cream scoops for only 5 cents on Wednesday, May 11.

Established in 2011, Mama’s on 39 has developed a reputation for serving home style cooking and generous portions, as well as giving back to the community. Since it opened, Mama’s on 39 has allowed worthwhile groups and organizations to use them as a resource for fundraising purposes and donations. It's donated more than $75,000 for local charities and schools.

Mama’s on 39 offers a cozy ambiance, unique menu selections and daily specials. Highlights from the menu include Mama’s Famous chicken ‘n waffles, Gary’s BBQ Pork Grilled Cheese sandwich, Mama Mia Pizza, Mama’s Baja Shrimp taco, and Patsy’s Pulled Pork Pan Nachos. It even serves breakfast all day long!

Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Modern Pop New Flavors and Expansion

Craving something sweet and low in sugar? Laguna Beach based Modern Pop is a Southern California inspired foods brand that’s committed to “Put Fruit First." Modern Pop frozen fruit bars only contain four ingredients—and they are launching new flavors including: Strawberry Lemonade (strawberries, lime juice and organic agave and water), Raspberry Pomegranate (raspberries, pomegranate juice, lime juice, organic agave and water) and Pineapple (pineapple, lime juice, organic agave and water).

Now, they are even easier to find since they expanding into select Costco’s in LA and OC and will soon be in about 60 natural grocery stores: Whole Foods, Bristol Farms and Gelson’s.

Modern Pops are low in sugar, there are about 11 grams of sugar, about half the amount of big name brands, and they are only 70 to 80 calories each.
