Prego’s Seafood Season
09.23.19
If you love Italian food and seafood you can experience something special at Prego Mediterranean at The District at Tustin Legacy for a limited time only. Prego Mediterranean celebrates the best in Seafood Season, Italian style, with a special menu available through October 6.
Inspired by Chef Ugo Allesina’s Italian roots and his love for its coastal cuisine, Prego created a an Italian seafood-centric menu with favorites such as the Zuppa di Pesce with Manila clams, mussels, scallops; and Cozze Del Marinaio, Black Santa Barbara Mussels with white wine, garlic, clam juice, dash of chili flakes, served with crisp Tuscan bread. Paired with white Sangra.
Chef Ugo’s gnocchi is the best I’ve ever had: Gnocchi Portofino, a potato dumpling, mixed with shrimp sautéed in white wine, tossed with sun-dried tomatoes and creamy pesto. Paired with Pinot Grigio, Abbazi. And the Misto Griglia with mixed grilled assortment of tuna, salmon, jumbo fresh water prawns, fillet of white pacific fish, topped with lemon, garlic, and herbs, served with roasted potatoes and vegetables. Paired with Chardonnay, Chateau St. Jean.
Another must is the Lasagna di Pesce, with layers of spinach pasta, béchamel, ragout of crustaceans and fresh seafood, baked and finished with fresh mozzarella. Paired with Greco di Tufo, Terre d’Aione.
The wine pairings and special flights are available only during the Seafood Season at Prego.
Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
2409 Park Ave, Tustin. 949.553.1333.

The Literacy Project Celebrates 10 Years
09.20.19
Newport Beach-based The Literacy Project (TLP), a nonprofit organization enabling disadvantaged youth to increase their reading skill levels, is celebrating 10 years of achievement throughout September, which is also National Literacy Month. Over the past decade, The Literacy Project has helped over 9,000 struggling students learn how to read through a one-of-a-kind program that is provided at no cost to the students or schools.
The Literacy Project currently serves school districts throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties, the Coachella Valley, and recently crossed state lines to support southern Utah.
The program is taught by specialized instructors in a fun, social and interactive environment, and is proven to improve reading abilities by as much as 129%. The comprehensive 30-hour program taught by multi-credentialed teachers, most of whom hold a master’s degree, costs The Literacy Project $250 per student which is made possible by generous supporters.
The Literacy Project will celebrate 10 years of achievements along with all those who have supported its mission at its Anniversary Gala on Friday, October 11 at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. Committed to leading the charge against the growing illiteracy rates, The Literacy Project is successful because of the generous donations provided by supporters year-round, who continue to give the gift of literacy to children who need it most.
