Free Breast Cancer Screenings

Susan G. Komen Orange County, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Chargers, is teaming up with Nhân Hòa Comprehensive Health Care Clinic and Alinea Medical Imaging to conduct vital breast health outreach services on Tuesday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in an effort to kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Komen is reminding the public that more than 41,000 people in the U.S. are dying every year from this disease–that is unacceptable! In Orange County, five women are diagnosed with breast cancer and one dies each day–that is unacceptable! Komen and the Chargers are committed to providing the community with resources and information to increase early detection and save lives.

Eligible women have the opportunity to receive FREE clinical breast exams and screening mammograms on Tuesday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. through a partnership between Komen Orange County, the Los Angeles Chargers, Nhan Hoa Clinic and Alinea Medical Imaging Women 40 years and older; low household income; no medical insurance or an insurance that has a high deductible or co-payment. There will be FREE on-site breast exams, mammograms and flu shots featuring the Los Angeles Charger girls at Nhan Hoa Clinic at 7761 Garden Grove Blvd. in Garden Grove.

Outlets at San Clemente 4th Annual Shopping Extravaganza

Outlets at San Clemente will celebrate its fourth annual Shopping Extravaganza charity fundraiser on Saturday, October 6, to benefit local nonprofits. During the event, shoppers will receive exclusive discounts at more than 40 stores, while Outlets at San Clemente donates $25 for every $35 ticket purchased to a local nonprofit organization of the shopper’s choice. 

In addition to exclusive discounts, Shopping Extravaganza includes prize drawings for more than 1,500 prizes valued at $40,000, catered lunch, entertainment and wine and cocktail tastings in the VIP Lounge.

New organizations participating this year include Orange-based Alzheimer's Association; Irvine-based American Heart Association; San Clemente-based Cabrillo Playhouse, Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, MAKO Educational Foundation, Marblehead Elementary PTA and San Clemente Historical Society; Mission Viejo-based DREAM Animal Rescue; and San Juan Capistrano-based San Juan Children's Education Foundation.

Participating organizations returning again this year include: San Clemente-based organizations, Because I Love You – BILY, Shorecliffs Middle School Education Foundation, San Clemente Junior Woman’s Club, San Clemente’s Woman’s Club, San Clemente Village, San Clemente Sunrise Rotary Club, San Clemente Christian School, Pet Project Foundation, Laundry Love of San Clemente, Marine Corps League South Coast Department #022, Las Palmas Elementary PTA, I-5 Freedom Network, Courtney’s Sandcastle Charitable Foundation, Community Outreach Alliance, Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area and American Association of University Women, San Clemente-Capistrano Bay Branch; Irvine-based JDRF; Santa Ana-based Catholic Charities of Orange County and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Orange County; Laguna Beach-based Pacific Marine Mammal Center; Dana Point-based Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association, OC’s Special Spokes and Just Like Me Foundation; Orange-based CHOC Children’s Los Niños Guild; San Juan Capistrano-based Capistrano Valley Christian Schools; Ladera Ranch-based Laura’s House; Los Alamitos-based Breast Cancer Angels.
