Chuck Jones Center for Creativity 9th Annual Red Dot Auction

05.14.19

Join the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity on Friday, May 17 for the 9th Annual Red Dot Auction fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Chuck Jones Center at SOCO + The OC Mix.

It will feature a silent auction with art pieces up for bid from over 100 artists from around the world. This special evening serves to raise money for programs of the Chuck Jones Center, which work to foster innovation, exercise creativity to solve problems and build mental health in students of all ages and backgrounds.  The Center works with school systems without art programs, people on the autism spectrum, the elderly and other groups including corporate clients.

Notable art pieces + artists featured in the auction include Wile E. Coyote’s Big “E” Wall where guests will find a collection of art work from internationally acclaimed artists, such as Academy-Award recipient Nick Park (Wallace and Gromit), Oscar-nominated Bill Plympton (Your Face and Guard Dog), Chuck Jones protégé Jeff DeGrandis (Dora the Explorer) and an unnamed four-time Oscar-winning animation director.  Additionally, several “Community Ambassadors” will be in attendance and a cash bar + free appetizers by Casa del Lago will be available for attendees.

Tickets for the Red Dot Auction are $25 person online and $50 person at the door. Each ticket provides attendees with 2 “Red Dots,” which, if used, guarantee the bidder to pay a set price for the particular work of art they bid on.  A special Preview Event will be held just before the official start of the fundraiser on Friday, May 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. where guests have a chance to use their “Red Dots” before anyone else.  Tickets for the Preview Event are $100/person and include entertainment and refreshments.

3Thirty3 Closing, Tavern House Opening

05.13.19

Longtime fans of 3Thirty3 in Newport Beach will have to get in soon. It’s closing sometime this summer and will reopen as Tavern House by David Wilhelm.

The restaurant will provide New American dishes, both classics from Wilhelm’s long tenure as a chef and restaurateur, as well as newly imagined creations, in a comfortable and trendsetting atmosphere, accompanied by stunning waterfront views of Balboa Bay.

Joining forces with Wilhelm is longtime restaurateur Gregg Solomon, who like Wilhelm, is responsible for developing a number of concepts over the last three decades. The duo has also coaxed Jeff Hatch of Hatch Design out of retirement to lead the interior renovation and design.

Wilhelm, Solomon, and Hatch have worked together on numerous projects throughout the years; the band’s getting back together! To ensure a smooth transition, Jeff Reuter of 3Thirty3 will remain on board as a minority partner, as the space transitions.

333 Bayside Drive in Newport Beach.
