Craving a fresh delicious sandwich that’s made surfers and locals happy for 40 years? Make your way over to Jan’s Health Bar in Huntington Beach. Founded by Jan Gaffney, one of the original surfer girls from the 1960s, and health food enthusiast before it was in vogue, Jan’s Health Bar serve delicious sandwiches, salads, soups and smoothies using only the freshest ingredients.

Try Jan’s Original with tuna and avocado ($8.50), or the soy turkey with avocado ($8.50), with your choice of mayonnaise, mustard, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, soy bacon bits and sprouts. Also, served with your choice of chips, pasta or fruit.  Don’t forget to order the fresh guacamole with a cult-like following, the broccoli and cheese soup with chips, and end with a banana date smoothie. Or, custom order a smoothie, with strawberry, peach, banana, guava, raspberry, pineapple and blueberry.

The Ninth at Nine

Pack a picnic, bring your chairs and warm blankets and head over to the Arts Plaza of Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa Saturday evening. You’ll be treated to a free live simulcast of the Symphony’s Beethoven’s Ninth performance during Saturday’s concert starting at 9 p.m. For the first time the center presents a “Pacific Symphony Plazacast,” outside in celebration of the Center’s Music Director Carl’s St. Clair’s 60th birthday and John Alexander’s 40th anniversary with Pacific Chorale.

The event includes a preview starting at 8:30 p.m. and interviews with guest artists.

LMNOP Hits the Web

LMNOP in Newport Beach is saying to goodbye to its adventure as a retail store at the end of July, but it’s looking forward to evolving into an online shop. Now the shop is having a clearance sale on all items reduced 40%.
