Packard Building Marks 100th Anniversary: A Day of Vintage Revelry

The Packard Building, within the iconic Anaheim Packing District, is commemorating a century of existence since its grand opening in 1923. The celebration takes place on Saturday, September 9, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering a nostalgic extravaganza.

This event is part of a statewide festivity known as "Doors Open California" (DOCA), orchestrated by the California Preservation Foundation to honor historic sites across the region.

Join a classic car exhibition between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., where the boardwalk at Farmers Park will showcase a captivating assortment of Packard cars and Model-A Ford Club vehicles from 1928-1931. At noon, the Rotary Club of Anaheim will preside over a Mills Act Plaque Reveal and Ceremony at the Packard Building.

The day will resonate with live jazz music from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., courtesy of four exceptional bands: Jazzie Flom Trio, Big Butter Jazz, Jazz Conspiracy, and General Area Jazz. If you're eager to delve into Anaheim's history, sign up through DOCA for hourly guided tours by the Anaheim Historical Society, taking you through the historical gems of the Packing District: the Packard Building, Anaheim Packing House, and MAKE Building, between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Embark on a culinary journey with the newest addition to the Packard Building, "En Familia," a chef-driven restaurant and craft bar inspired by Valle de Guadeloupe. The establishment will be open all day for a community preview. Monkish Brewing Company, also housed in the Packard Building, promises a treat for beer aficionados—correctly guess their speakeasy-style code word and enjoy special beer pour offers.

Step back into the glamorous 1920s by donning your best Roaring Twenties attire and indulging in prohibition-style libations at special $10 pricing from Hammer Bar and BXCR Bar at Anaheim Packing House.

Art and car enthusiasts will have a unique chance to acquire an original acrylic canvas painting of the Packard Building, crafted by Chris Bennett, the Director of Development at the Packing District. This 4'x2' masterpiece, featured in promotional materials for the event, can be won through an opportunity drawing, with proceeds benefiting the non-profit organization Anaheim Historical Society.

Don't miss the festivities at the Packard Building, located at 336 S. Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805. For more information, visit: anaheimpackingdistrict.com/packard
