Packing it in, in Anaheim

The wait for Anaheim’s fantastic new foodie destination is almost over. The Anaheim Packing District (The Packard Showroom, Farmers Park, and Packing House) from the same masterminds who brought us the Lab and the Camp in Costa Mesa, etc. will be shooting for October as the Grand Opening for The Anaheim Packing House. The historic landmark, also known as the Sunkist Packing House since 1919, will house up to 20 local culinary artisans sharing a communal eating and entertainment area.

In just three months, you can look forward to gourmet eateries at the Anaheim Packing House such as The Kroft (gourmet sandwiches and specialty fries), Popbar (gourmet popsicles), Cafectio Organico (Guatemalan-style coffee), The Chippy (fish and chips), ADYA (unique Indian cuisine), Iron Press (waffle sandwiches), Ecco Pizza Shoppe (pizzeria), Wheat & Sons (local butcher), Orange Tei (gourmet sushi and Ramen), Rolling Boil (hot pot restaurant), revolutionary new bakery, and Korean barbeque. More to follow include a fresh juice bar, artisan cheeses and grilled cheese sandwiches. The Packing House will also offer bars including The Blind Rabbit (speakeasy) and The Tool Shed (featuring unique organic wines).

The first phase of the redevelopment was The Packard (Car) Showroom, built in 1925 that’s now home to the Anaheim Brewery, a commercial brewer and tasting room, and gourmet burger eatery, Umami Burger. The outdoor patios face the second phase of the project, Farmers Park, a greenbelt that will debut its weekly Farmers Market on Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. with many more community events coming up.

The warehouse loading docks were morphed into dining porches and railroad cars parked on the original railroad tracks used to transport the citrus crops serve as outdoor seating.

The Anaheim Packing District is at 400 S. Anaheim Blvd. in Anaheim.
