Supervisor Foley’s First Annual Animal Adoption Day!

Adopt a furry friend and help empty overcrowding shelters with Supervisor Foley’s first annual Animal Adoption Day! This special one-day adoption event, presented in partnership with Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley and OC Animal Care, will take place on Saturday, September 10, at OC Animal Care in Tustin from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

During Animal Adoption Day, walk-ups are welcome; a drive-through pet food pantry will provide free food and necessities from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.; adoption fees will be waived from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Pooches on the Patio, a volunteer-led doggy meet and greet event, will take place from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. To learn more and request an adoption appointment, visit OCPetInfo.com.

“Animal shelters across the County are over capacity, including OC Animal Care in Tustin,” shared Supervisor Foley. “This shelter has capacity for about 200 dogs and 300 cats, but currently houses more than double its max capacity of animals. By hosting Animal Adoption Day, we hope to encourage the public to adopt, foster, or volunteer with our County shelters to support our region’s homeless pets.”

The event launches a month-long, first-come-first-serve initiative where Supervisor Foley’s office will waive adoption fees for up to 200 pets.

Each adopted animal comes with a microchip, vaccinations, spay or neutering, and anti-parasite treatment. Additionally, each adopted pet will receive a certificate for a free veterinary exam at participating Southern California Veterinary Medical Association clinics within 72 hours of adoption. Walk-ins are available for cat adoptions.

Those looking to adopt a dog are encouraged to book an appointment for expedited service but can also drop by to visit. A few of the most prevalent breeds currently available for adoption at OC Animal Care include huskies, German shepherds, and pit bulls.
