OC Weekend: Appreciating Wine

Orange Coast College's wine appreciation

Wine enthusiasts can join Orange Coast College’s wine appreciation series starting Monday at the Rusty Pelican in Newport Beach. Joe Poshek, a wine connoisseur and dean of Orange Coast College’s Visual and Performing Arts Division, is running the series on Monday evenings through Aug. 1.

The two-hour session starting at 6:30 p.m. costs $55 per class and includes wine tastings and appetizers. Each evening will focus on a wine region or style, including France, Italy and Spain, wines of summer, and Australia and New Zealand.

Participants must be 21 or over. You can register at the OCC Bursar’s Office at 714.432.5880, ext. 1 or online.

Rusty Pelican Restaurant Bar & Lounge is at 2735 West Coast Highway in Newport Beach.

The Hobbit The Hobbit in Orange celebrates its new look and restoration to its splendor with three nights of wine and delicious bites to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. On Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can enjoy Champagne and hors d'oeuvres in its acclaimed wine cellar before sampling spectacular small bites and wine as you complete your tour. 

Tickets cost $55 per person/$100 couple.

Liquid Aloha in SD!

Liquid Aloha Don’t miss the San Diego Liquid Aloha Music Festival Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. in celebration of music, food, Kona Brews and more.
