Jerry Muller Art Opening
Join one of our favorite art galleries in Orange County, The District Art Gallery in Tustin Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. for an opening reception with photographer Jerry Muller who is celebrating 60 years of work of historic American photography. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages and see Muller’s beautiful photographs (mostly black and whites).
His career started in midtown Manhattan in the 1950’s, while wandering the streets with his Rolleiflex he captured stunning images (seen above, “Thinker of 42nd St.” 1952). Those shots are still some of his most widely published images. He went on to work as an editor and art director of magazines, studied art at NYU, taught at Orange Coast College, and founded a Newport Beach advertising, photography and design firm. Muller’s solo exhibits have traveled throughout the country at galleries, libraries and universities including The Art Institute of California, and UCI.
The District Art Gallery is at 2437 Park Avenue in Tustin. 424.645.4161 http://www.thedistrictartgallery.com thedistrictartgallery@gmail.com
Relay for Life
Cancer touches everyone. On Sunday through Monday, you can celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back by participating in American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
For the first time in California, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life will be held at a corporate venue, the Kaleidoscope Entertainment Center in Mission Viejo. The 24-hour “Kaleidoscope of Colors Against Cancer" relay starts Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. until Monday at 2 p.m. You can just drop-in and register to participate in the event, it doesn’t require a 24-hour commitment. The events are normally at parks, fields, or colleges, so this is an entirely new concept.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event to raise awareness and funds to support the research, education, advocacy and patient services of the ACS.
Kaleidoscope’s merchants will be participating too. The Derby Manhattan Grill will sponsor a pancake breakfast for all Relay participants from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday morning. Rockin’ B’s Burrito Bandito, The Derby Manhattan Grill, Riptide Sushi & Teppan Grills, and Rocco’s Pizzeria will donate 20% of dining purchases during the event, back to Relay For Life. Jump ‘n Jammin offers admission discounts to participants and will remain open on Sunday, July 22 until 9 p.m. To make a donation to a team or individual, visit http://www.laderarelay.org.
