We All Scream for Creamistry

The wait will finally be over on Wednesday for the legions of ice cream lovers wanting to taste the first made-to-order, liquid nitrogen ice cream shop in Orange County. Creamistry, at Crossroads in Irvine, will bring edible science in seconds; a blast of liquid nitrogen flash freezes the ingredients and transforms into fresh, creamy ice cream. Creamistry’s creations use premium ingredients such as Straus cream, with organic and non-GMO soy options.

There will be 10 signature flavors to choose from, including vanilla bean with candied bacon, salted caramel, chocolate hazelnut and Asian-inspired flavors such as Thai iced tea, red bean, matcha green tea, and cookie butter, or you can create your own custom flavor—the sky’s the limit.. A special edible magic will be the toasted coconut ice cream topped with a flash-frozen cherry that will crack and crumble when you tap it with a spoon. There will also be milkshakes, along with ice cream cookie sandwiches.

Co-owner Jay Yim discovered the concept of liquid nitrogen ice cream in Korea a decade ago and it left an indelible impression. Yim’s family has been in the bakery and sweets business for generations and yet the concept of freshly prepared ice cream especially with a “cool factor with the cloud of liquid nitrogen smoke” blew his mind. He and his wife Katie have dedicated the last year experimenting with recipes for nearly 50 different flavors and are thrilled to introduce the first liquid nitrogen ice cream shop to Orange County.

Creamistry can also deliver its ice cream-making alchemy to private parties and special events with its mobile cart for treats that will delight and entertain guests.

Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday. 3972 Barranca Parkway #D in Irvine. 949.777.6627.
