Come and Get Some Burnt Crumbs

Burnt Crumbs, the newest handcrafted sandwich concept, from the owners of the popular food trucks, The Burnt Truck and Dogzilla as well as the brick and mortar, Burntzilla, just opened two locations in Irvine and Huntington Beach. Their signature gourmet sandwiches were created to evoke childhood memories, in a modern and contemporary setting.

Chef and owner Paul Cao focuses on using ingredients that are made in-house from their meats to their sauces. Cult-like favorites on their menu include the Spaghetti Grilled Cheese with pressed spaghetti, fresh mozzarella, sourdough bread and marinara sauce; Crispy Pork made with a pork shoulder, salsa verde, chili lime mayo, cracklings and house ciabatta, and Southern Fried Chicken made with buttermilk fried chicken, garlic potato spread, country gravy and Sriracha honey.

The playful name dates back to chef Cao’s college career when his roommates would ask him to create his signature--and only--dish, which was burnt spaghetti. Years later, the name still has a lot of meaning amongst the owners who believe in putting out a great product without taking themselves too seriously.

Chef Cao has debuted several new hearty sandwiches and dishes like a Turkey Sandwich with shaved turkey, oven-dried tomato, lettuce, house pickles, Dijon mayo and house ciabatta; Chicken Club Toast (available only at Los Olivos location) with a garlic chicken salad, avocado, tomato jam and bacon bit; and Spicy House Chili served with garlic parmesan focaccia. The chili recipe is a favorite of the owners as they love to boast that they won the fan-favorite in the 2015 Tustin Chili Cook-Off, which is the world’s largest one-day chili cook-off.

Burnt Crumbs is at 8549 Irvine Center Drive in Irvine, in the Los Olivos Shopping Center; and  at 21058 Pacific Coast Highway, in Huntington Beach, in Lot 579 at Pacific City.
