The Play’s the Thing at Bloomingdale’s

image

“Spring Awakening” is Broadway’s most talked about new musical and the biggest Tony Award-winner in years. The eight-time Tony-winning Broadway show swept the 2007 Tony Awards winning eight out of its 11 nominations. And it’s making its Orange County debut at the Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. (and continues through Nov. 29). “Spring Awakening” is the groundbreaking fusion of morality, sexuality and rock ‘n’ roll that’s unlike any other Broadway musical in years. It’s a story of the unforgettable road to adulthood that captures all the pathos with mature themes.

You can meet cast members at Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza as they perform “Don’t Do Sadness” and “Blue Wind” Thursday, at 3 p.m. (second level). And if you spend $200 in the Y.E.S. Contemporary Sportswear Department between now and Thursday you’ll receive a 50 percent discount coupon for selected performances of “Spring Awakening.”

Tickets to see “Spring Awakening” range from $20 to $70 at OCPAC.org, at the Center’s Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa or by calling 714.556.2787.

Treasure Island

Fine jewelry connoisseurs will love the exclusive and rare opportunity in OC to shop from Bochic jewelry at a trunk show Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Island Hotel in Newport Beach. New York design duo of Miriam Salat and David Aaron Joseph created a strikingly original collection of jewelry inspired by art deco with precious stones with a modern edge. Bochic’s materials are sourced from India, South America or New York, and for fine jewelry they’re surprisingly wearable. The Bochic collection features Bakelite cuffs studded with diamonds, mother-of-pearl pendants, gold filigree creations, oval turquoise stones, spiral arrangements, butterfly clasps and much more. RSVP to Elyse Roberts or James Agnew. 949.500.4708. The Island Hotel, 690 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach.
