PdM’s New Kitchen in Irvine

PdM Kitchen, a sister restaurant to the four popular PdM Cafés along coastal Orange County, is celebrating its grand opening today and Tuesday  in Irvine by donating a portion of its sales to Fristers, a non-profit organization in Irvine providing education, access to resources, role models and support to teen mothers and their children.

PdM Kitchen, in Irvine’s Oak Creek Shopping Center, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. This is the largest of the PdM locations and the only location to offer waiter service in the dining room. The restaurant also has bar seating with a view of the exhibition kitchen, and a patio for al fresco dining. There is also a to-go counter perfect for picking up morning coffee and pastries, or picking up take-out orders for lunch or dinner.

Breakfast is available until 3 p.m. daily and includes the restaurant’s signature fresh-baked pastries and muffins along with Pesto & Eggs (two sunny side up eggs, Italian proscuitto, pesto and arugula on a parmesan twist); Eggs Benedict (poached eggs with spinach and choice of smoked salmon or Canadian bacon, served on a potato cake with hollandaise on the side); and more.

Throughout the day, PdM Kitchen offers a variety of fresh salads, soup and sandwiches, and house specialties including Mediterranean hummus salad (Mary’s chicken with organic mixed greens, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and Kalamata olives with a Greek herb dressing; a blackened fish sandwich (freshest fish available blackened, vine ripe tomatoes and crispy cabbage); Bozeman Bacon Sandwich (natural chicken, yellow and red grilled tomatoes, Niman Ranch bacon, goat cheese and avocado on toasted ciabatta); among other selections.

House specialties include Grilled Fresh Salmon with mango salsa and a ginger cilantro sauce, and Fresh Fish Tacos, grilled and served with pico de gallo and roasted corn. New items include Grilled Flat Iron Steak served on chive and shallot mashed potatoes with fresh grilled asparagus; Yogurt and Onion Marinated Lamb Sirloin Steak served with charred vegetables and salsa verde; and Roasted Chicken Breast served over summer corn and quinoa with lemon and herbs.

Later this month – and unlike its sister restaurants – PdM Kitchen will offer wine and craft microbrews such as Stone from San Diego and Hanger 24 in Redlands.

PdM Kitchen is in Oak Creek Shopping Center at 5781 Alton Parkway, off Jeffrey Road, in Irvine. 949.336.6292.

There are four other PdM Café locations: two in Newport Beach (Bristol off Jamboree and Fashion Island), Corona del Mar on PCH, and in Dana Point adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton.
