Down Under Ribs

Fresh grilled Australian ribs are the trademark at Bondi Grill House opening its first U.S. location tomorrow at Bella Terra in Huntington Beach. Named after Australia’s famed surf spot where its Hurricane Grill sister restaurants are located, Bondi Grill House specializes in its signature Bondisaurus Pork Ribs, 3 lbs of free range, all natural, lean pork ribs basted in a house made, proprietary sauce and cooked at 825 degrees. Bondi  makes history as the first restaurant to serve these perfectly seared Australian ribs in North America.

Bondi also offers flame-grilled steaks, chicken, burgers and more, served in generous portions with its famed secret sauce. Other signature items include Boerewors, a house-made traditional South African sausage served with Monkey Gland sauce (a tangy barbecue sauce with dried apricots, traditionally served with meat in South Africa); Lamb Burger (half pound of grass-fed lamb with sundried tomatoes, feta, red onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle and tzatziki); Steak Roll (filet mignon served on an artisan bun, organic wild baby arugula, caramelized onions and peri mayo sauce); and Portuguese Chicken (Mary’s free range, antibiotic free chicken, chargrilled and basted in Bondi’s own peri peri sauce, served butterflied.)

Starters include Salt & Pepper Calamari, lightly coated then flash fried and served with Greek tzatziki sauce and lemon; Peri Peri Prawns, sautéed with butter and peri peri sauce (spicy Portuguese sauce); Roasted Artichokes served with tzatziki sauce, and other selections.

The restaurant also offers an array of fresh tossed salads, as well as gluten free menu options.

Save room for Bondi’s signature Sticky Date Pudding, a traditional Australian dessert of cake with California dates, served warm with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce. Other dessert choices include a Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, a Fresh Seasonal Fruit Tart, and more than a dozen milk shakes such as S’mores, Spiced Chocolate Candied Almond, Chipotle Pineapple, Tiramisu and others.

Craft beer and California and Australian wines will be offered, along with fresh squeezed house-made Lemonade, Rosemary Watermelon Lemonade and Lavender Hibiscus Lemonade.

Open 11 a.m. to Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant will have a children’s menu as well as offer take-out and catering.

Bondi Grill House is across from The Cheesecake Factory in Bella Terra shopping center, at 7821 Edinger Ave., Suite 110, in Huntington Beach. 714.893.3565 or visit BondiGrillHouse.com.
