Livin’ La Vida at The Triangle

The newest modern Mexican eatery to hit Orange County is La Vida Cantina that just opened at The Triangle in Costa Mesa. The restaurant, owned by the same group who run Sutra nearby, celebrates its grand opening with two upcoming fundraisers for local charities. On Wednesday, Aug. 6, La Vida Cantina will donate a portion of sales to the Orange County Jaycee Charitable Foundation, and on Thursday, Aug. 7, the restaurant will donate a portion of sales to Someone Cares Soup Kitchen. Both charity events are from 5 to 10 p.m.

La Vida’s spacious patio features a large pentagon-shaped bar, plenty of lounge seating, and five fire pits. Inside, there are dark woods, warm lighting and contemporary Mexican murals.

La Vida used organic ingredients whenever possible, and all menu items are house-made. Specialties include the La Vida Burrito (with a choice of grilled chicken or steak in a flour tortilla filled with refried black beans, cheese and pico de gallo, topped with red and green enchilada sauce, cotija cheese, avocado and drizzled with Mexican cream), Enchiladas de Langosta (two Maine lobster enchiladas in a poblano cilantro tomatillo sauce topped with cheese and a drizzled with a Mexican cream), Ahi Tostaditas (three small crispy tortillas topped with fresh diced ahi, house chipotle sauce, avocado, mango, red onion, cilantro and serrano pepper) and Shrimp Ceviche (shrimp in a mango, red onion, cucumber, cilantro, Serrano pepper and tomato salsa.)

The multiple bars offer an extensive cocktail menu featuring premium tequilas, uniquely crafted margaritas and signature martinis. Craft beer and an array of wines are also available.

The restaurant is rolling out Taco Tuesday with live music on the patio, $3 Coronas, $3 domestic draft beers, $4 imported draft beers, $4 house premium margaritas with Maestro Dobel Tequila, $3 crispy tacos with chicken or beef, and $5 mahi mahi tacos. Live music on the expansive patio will add to the festive atmosphere.

Open for dinner at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; lunch from 11 a.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. for Sunday brunch. Happy Hour will also be offered Monday through Friday from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and a Late Night Happy Hour will be available Thursday through Saturday, from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m.

La Vida is on the Entertainment Level of The Triangle at 1870 Harbor Blvd., where the 55 Fwy. meets Newport Blvd. in Costa Mesa. 949.612.2349.
