Anaheim Packing It in

The light at the end of the tunnel is finally here for those waiting for the Anaheim Packing District in Anaheim to open. On Saturday, May 31 from noon to 10 p.m. you can attend the grand opening of the much anticipated, restored Anaheim Packing House, Farmers Park, and the restored Packard dealership.

This is a years in the making community gathering place and OC’s first food hall that also pays homage to the county’s agricultural history. The historic landmark, also known as the Sunkist Packing House since 1919 is now home to 20 hand-selected local culinary artisans sharing a communal eating area that expands to outside covered porches on rail cars.

Gourmet eateries at the Anaheim Packing House include The Kroft (gourmet sandwiches and specialty fries), Popbar (gourmet popsicles), Cafectio Organico (Guatemalan-style coffee), The Chippy (fish and chips), ADYA (unique Indian cuisine), Iron Press (waffle sandwiches), Ecco Pizza Shoppe (pizzeria), Wheat & Sons (local butcher), Orange Tei (gourmet sushi and Ramen), Rolling Boil (hot pot restaurant), revolutionary new bakery, and Korean barbeque.

There’s also Hans’ homemade ice cream, Lemondrop (juice bar and veggie stand), Buy’n Bulk spice to nuts, Georgia’s (Southern style soul food) Sawleaf café (Vietnamese food), Crepe Coop, and Dark 180 (chocolatier).

The all-day celebration will feature live music from country and blue grass bands, line dancing lessons, hosted kids games and crafts on the park, afternoon hay rides, free lemonade, popcorn and lite bites, as well as commemorative giveaways while supplies last.

The Anaheim Packing District is at 400 S. Anaheim Blvd. in Anaheim.
