Just in time for summer dining, Executive Chef Rainer Schwarz at The Deck on Laguna Beach is introducing a new seasonal menu at one of the most spectacular oceanfront eateries you’ll ever find. Chef Rainier is also responsible for the award-winning menus at The Decks’ sister restaurant, Driftwood Kitchen.
His new seasonal menu showcases the freshest seafood with an array of seasonal ingredients like heirloom tomatoes, pee wee potatoes and Haas avocados. The ocean-inspired menu features acclaimed local favorites and nearly a dozen new “ocean-to-table” specialties, including Oysters on the Half Shell, Steamed Venus Clams & Mussels, Tuna Poke, and Pan-Seared Alaskan Halibut.
The Deck’s new menu includes small share plates such as Royal Cambridge Scottish Smoked Salmon with pickled fennel, shaved red onion, arugula crème fraiche and pumpernickel; as well as Tuna Poke with scallions, ginger soy, daikon sprouts and crushed wasabi peas.
Soups and appetizers include Baja Shrimp Cocktail with Dungeness crab, bay scallops, shrimp, calamari and tortilla chips; or Sliced Yellowfin Tuna Loin with
Hawaiian red sea salt, Dungeness crab, hearts of palm, avocado and lemon basil.
Salads selections include a Caprese with heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella and basil, Haas avocados and Manicardi balsamic vinaigrette; or Nicoise Salad with seared ahi, Nicoise olives, fingerling potatoes, haricot vert, egg, heirloom tomato and tarragon vinaigrette; or a Heirloom Tomato Watermelon Salad with hearts of palm, watercress, bellwether farms ricotta and basil vinaigrette.
And finally, the main dishes include Mary’s Farm Chicken Breast with Yukon gold and cauliflower puree, portabella and caramelized shallots confit sweet 100’s and chicken au jus; or Jumbo Maine Scallops with saffron-corn pudding, heirloom baby carrots and grilled artichokes; or Pan Seared Alaskan Halibut with sweet corn ragout, sautéed baby spinach, pee wee potatoes and saffron curry nage,
The new menu is available daily for lunch and dinner.

Adventure City Opens “Rewind Racers” Roller Coaster
Adventure City on the border of Anaheim and Stanton celebrates its 20-year anniversary with the grand opening of “Rewind Racers,” rollercoaster on Saturday, June 6.
Designed by renowned German ride manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GMBH, “Rewind Racers” is the first family shuttle coaster in North America. The coaster will travel along the track both forward and backwards with riders of all ages, as long as they are 39-inch in height and accompanied by an adult.
The entire family can enjoy comfortable seating for both small children and senior passengers, as well as a smooth, gentle ride.
Rewind Racers travels up to 28 miles per hour, and accommodates up to 14 passengers per ride.
The family owned Adventure City is known as SoCal’s “Little Theme Park That’s Big on Family Fun.” It offers a variety of rides including “Adventure City Express Train”, “Drop Zone” and “Rescue Ride” along with live entertainment in the Children’s Theater, rock climbing, arcade games and friendly animals at the Adventure City petting farm.
Adventure City can host groups and private events as well as birthdays.
Parking is free and child and adult admission is $16.95 per person with Seniors 55+ at $11.95 per person.
