The Swankiest Country Club in OC

The Country Club, a new dining and drinking establishment for those 21 and over only in Costa Mesa, will officially open on National Repeal Day, Tuesday, Dec. 5. It took over the former Pierce Street Annex spot on East 17th Street, a longtime dive bar, dance venue with a grill-it-yourself patio. In its place is a brand new swanky, luxury-appointed restaurant and bar that celebrates traditional American cuisine and classic libations. Guests at The Country Club can enjoy its warm ambiance and classic space reminiscent of a time-honored social club.

Before the public opening, The Country Club introduced its concept to those attending private events; it hosted two major fundraisers for JDRF and Movember Foundation. There was "A Night For Anna" where 100% of proceeds were donated to JDRF to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. The event grossed over $35,000. The fundraiser was held in support of Anna Plotke, a young girl who was diagnosed with type one diabetes at just seven-years-old. Anna receives at least four insulin shots per day and has received more than 500 in the last six months.

And, almost 300 people attended a fundraiser where 100% of proceeds to attend were donated to the Movember Foundation for men's health. The event grossed a total of $48,968 while allowing guests to indulge in an exclusive first experience. The fundraiser was presented by Team Nuclear, a group of friends dedicated to raising money and awareness for men’s health through Movember Foundation. "Having lost my father to cancer in 1987, this annual tradition of participating in Movember is near and dear to me,” said one of the four Team Nuclear founders John Cornuke. “I am both honored to be a part of bringing awareness to this cause and humbled by everyone’s support in helping to find solutions that can produce improvement in the lives of those dealing with cancer or other health issues.”

The Country Club proudly offers nightly dinner options from its all-scratch kitchen which range from savory flatbread and prime cut steaks to fresh seafood and tempting desserts. Presented by executive chef Zachary Scherer, all items are made with premium ingredients and locally-sourced produce.

Entrees include Roasted Jidori Chicken Breast with salsa verde, baked red potatoes, and creamed pencil asparagus, as well as the 42 oz. Ribeye Tomahawk with fresh horseradish, smashed potatoes, and beef jus. Side dish items will include a savory mac ‘n cheese with fontina, gruyere, and aged cheddar cheeses with black pepper.

Guests can also enjoy weekend brunch offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or a cocktail hour from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The kitchen opens weekdays at 3 p.m. with a menu of lighter fare from flatbreads, chicken sliders, and a premium beef cheeseburger, among other Happy Hour bites.

Libations will consist of 14 rotating beers on draught, crafted cocktails, premium whiskey and spirits, and a carefully curated list of wine by the bottle or glass.

Anticipated dessert favorites include Chocolate Lava Cake with bourbon caramel, popped blackberries, and vanilla ice cream, as well as Clafoutis with roasted strawberry and blood orange Campari sorbet.

The drink menu will showcase classic libations such as whiskey old-fashioneds, gin martinis, and Moscow mules. Signature cocktails will rotate seasonally and feature premium spirits made with fresh ingredients and house-made fusions. Among the opening seasonal menu cocktails are the Royal Melbourne with Toki Japanese Whiskey, pear, and almond, and the Cypress Point, with Stoli Vodka, blood orange, and honey.

The Country Club will also be a destination for after dinner dancing complete with live entertainment and exclusive VIP table services. The venue is uniquely tailored to accommodate large parties with party-specific menus and designated secluded spaces.

Open noon to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday with Cocktail Hour from noon to 6 p.m.; dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily: and weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bar will be open until 2 a.m. daily.

The Country Club is at 330 E. 17th St, Costa Mesa. countryclubcm.com.
