Earth Month Eco Challenge Returns to Discovery Cube Orange County
04.03.26
Discovery Cube Orange County kicked off its Earth Month Eco Challenge with hands-on activities and sustainability-focused exhibits taking place each weekend throughout April in partnership with OC Waste & Recycling.
Designed to educate and inspire the next generation, the experience features five interactive exhibits and themed programming centered on environmental awareness and science-based learning.
Guests can take part in a worm cart demonstration that shows composting and decomposition in action, along with a cloud watch activity focused on identifying cloud types and understanding their role in the water cycle. A microplastics awareness station highlights the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems, while the windmill creation station invites kids to build their own models and learn how wind energy supports a more sustainable future.
The Organics Waste Lab, sponsored by OC Waste & Recycling, offers an interactive look at composting through games and exhibits that explore how long different food items take to break down and the important role worms play in the environment. In recognition of Earth Month, the exhibit also features new videos on vermicomposting, organic farming, the life cycle of a butterfly, and recycling and waste reduction.
Additional eco-themed programming will take place throughout the month, encouraging young visitors to explore sustainability through engaging, hands-on science.
Eco Challenge dates include April 10 to 12, April 18 and 19, and April 25 and 26.

Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage: How to Think About the Choice
04.01.26
One of the biggest decisions people face with Medicare is choosing between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage. There is no one size fits all answer, and the right choice depends on individual health needs, budget and lifestyle.
Original Medicare includes Part A and Part B. Many people who choose Original Medicare also add a Medicare Supplement to help cover out-of-pocket costs, along with a separate Part D prescription drug plan. This option can offer more flexibility when it comes to seeing doctors nationwide who accept Medicare, which can be appealing for people who travel frequently or split time between different locations.
Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies and bundle Part A and Part B into one plan, often including prescription drug coverage and extra benefits such as dental, vision and hearing. These plans may have lower monthly premiums but typically use provider networks and may involve copays for services.
Both options can provide solid coverage, but they work differently. The key is understanding how each type of plan fits into your personal health needs and financial comfort level.
If you are helping a family member sort through these choices, or beginning to explore your own options, having clear information can make a big difference. Questions are always welcome.
