Art, Fashion and Food Converge

Fashion Island and Orange County’s beloved Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach will partner together for an art, fashion and food series this month on two consecutive Sundays.
From noon to 4 p.m. July 20, the Bloomingdale’s Courtyard lawn will be filled with works from Festival of Arts’ artists who will be showcasing their craft.
Shoppers can enjoy complimentary light bites from featured Fashion Island restaurants such as Fig & Olive, Red O, Lark Creek and Blue C Sushi as they enjoy art and fashion on display.
Informal modeling will highlight the season’s hottest looks from retailers such as Ella Moss, Joie and Trina Turk.
From noon to 3 p.m. July 27, the Atrium lawn will transform into a creative playground for children, with free arts & crafts activities.

Goodbye Sugar! Hello Elli Sweetness

We just discovered Orange County based, Elli Quark, the first spoonable German-style quark cheese to hit the U.S. market. Think cottage cheese but with a smooth texture similar to Greek yogurt. Here’s the skinny, there’s less than 90 calories in a 6 oz. cup, and there’s no fat or added sugar. Elli Quark Founder Preya Patel Bhakta, was on a mission to eat healthier at home with her husband Sachin, and after much investigating she found that the beloved German quark could not be found in the U.S. So they booked a flight to Germany to learn everything about the fave German dairy product.
Fast-forward to today, and now Elli Quark is available at Whole Foods Markets and other natural food stores. You can choose from plain, strawberry, pineapple, lemon, and red velvet. It’s also great for baking and cooking since it’s a lighter substitute for creams and cheeses.
