Delphine Berryhill, Creator Butterfli Me Makeup Studio
11.30.15
Our latest spotlight on Orange County entrepreneurs is with Delphine Berryhill, creator of Butterfli Me Makeup Studio in Irvine. She just answered our 20Q’s and she’s a one-woman powerhouse—her Butterfli Me Makeup Studio is the product of her own personal metamorphosis from talented makeup artist, to business visionary, delivering cosmetic empowerment to women seeking personal transformation.
Berryhill has worked as a makeup artist for top makeup brands, she started a successful mobile makeup service called About Face, and even had her own marketing and advertising agency.
More recently, she lamented with friends that they needed a place for a quick makeup touch up to accommodate their hectic schedules and demanding corporate careers. All agreed that they would use a service like this at least two or three times a week.
That’s when the idea for Butterfli Me Makeup Studio began crystalizing. She reflected on the obstacles that her customers faced at the makeup counter—too many products and lacking the know how to use them--and she set out to create an experience where women would get the service that they truly deserved and desired.
Her solution, Butterfli Me Makeup Studio, now offers quick, affordable makeup application as well as instruction with a custom line of high quality cosmetics, aptly named Delphine. The Butterfli Me Makeup Studio concept aims to streamline the makeup application process with its mobile app and Look Book, offering five classic, glamorous looks for women to choose from.
With her first location in Orange County, Berryhill has set out to transform the makeup industry and turn Butterfli Me Makeup Studio into a phenomenon. The next location will open later this year in Los Angeles and a promising franchising plan is in the works that includes a future in airports, hotel chains and sports clubs.
Delphine lives in Laguna Beach with her husband, Clay. She enjoys cooking, gardening and traveling to visit her two sons who are away at college.

1. Tell us about Butterfli Me and what makeup means to you?
Butterfli Me is a Makeup and Lash Studio I recently opened on Jamboree in Irvine next to the Melting Pot restaurant. After a 16 year career in cosmetics, working for many of the major department store lines, I realized there was a void in the market. Everyone was providing products but nobody was providing service. Women need help with application, lessons and tools. So I teamed up with my sister, celebrity makeup artist Dusty Starks and created Butterfli Me. We focus on helping women achieve their personal beauty goals without the sales pressure that is experienced at most cosmetics counters.
Personally, I love makeup. I love everything about it. It’s fun and creative and it helps women feel beautiful and confident and that’s empowering.
2. What’s your most prized possession?
A photo of Mohammed Ali sitting with me brushing my hair
3. Favorite drink?

Interior Designer
5. Fantasy purchase?
A 3 level yacht…of course!
6. What can’t you live without?
My BB Cream (moisturizer, sunscreen and base color in one)…but then again most of my clients can’t live without it either.
7. What’s next on your “to do” list?
Roll out Butterfli Me Studios across the U.S.
8. Biggest regret?
I don’t think in terms of regrets. It implies that you’re holding onto negativity. Every decision is an opportunity to learn. I keep looking forward and thinking positively.
9. Cause that you’re most interested/involved in?
Having been a kid in the L.A. foster care system and a mom of two boys, I have a soft spot in my heart for Children support organizations. Although I don’t sit on any boards, I support as many charities as I can both personally and through my company.
10. Your dream day in Orange County?

The design and build of our house in Laguna. It was a 30 month project in which I got to exercise my design and project management skills in a big way. Eleven thousand square feet big! We had an amazing team and it turned out better than I could have expected. It graced the cover of LUXE Orange County’s spring 2015 issue. So proud!
