Bistango Kicks Off New Art Show with Reception

06.05.18

Bistango Restaurant kicks off its newest art exhibit, with an opening reception to honor the artists and introduce their work to the community on Saturday, June 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. In conjunction with Forest & Ocean Gallery, the exhibition features the works of local artists and will be showing through October.

Guests will be able to meet the artists, as well as enjoy a glass of white wine and pizzas, provided by Bistango’s culinary and beverage teams.

Bistango art curator Antoinette Sullivan has curated a show of vibrant new works including paintings by Greg La Rock, David Downes, William Havlicek, Cydette Vikander and Michael Jacques; sculptures by Sukhdev Dail; and photography by Robert Hanson, Jason Haygood, Tomb Lamb and Ludo Leideritz, who is also the founder and principal of Forest & Ocean Gallery. All art will be available for acquisition at Bistango during the duration of the showing.

Bistango proprietor, John Ghoukassian has dedicated himself to showcasing all things art, creating a perfect juxtaposition between the culinary artistry of Chef Javier Montoya and the rotating artists featured on the gallery walls and hallways of the restaurant.

With the help and guidance of Sullivan, Ghoukassian’s genuine appreciation and passion for art has provided a unique platform that has allowed hundreds of local, national and internationally renowned artists to showcase their artwork in one of Orange County’s finest and unique venues for 31 years.

In addition to the pieces from Forest & Ocean Gallery artists, Diana Ghoukassian, John Ghoukassian’s wife, will also exhibit some of her own artful photography this summer, providing a taste of her own personal artistic expression.

To RSVP for the art show, please email info@bistango.com.

Bistango is at 19100 Von Karman Ave. #100, Irvine.

Chromatic Dinner hosted by Feastown at EASTOWN

06.05.18

Get ready to experience neo futurist dining at the Chromatic Dinner, an eating experience whose aim is to re-think the way in which the world of food, art, and science come together, resulting in an unexpected multi-sensory dinner. The Chromatic Dinner will take place at Feastown at EASTOWN in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 7, on Friday, June 8, and Saturday, June 9.

Inspired by the ideas of Kandinsky's principles of Klangfarben, and the influence of the Chinese five elements: tree, fire, earth, metal, and water. Each course is designed in a different color, taste, smell, texture, and sound to create a five-course chromatic dining experience.

Courses come out with a soundtrack inspired by Newton's circle of sound and color (1704). Working together with perfume researcher Caro Verbeek, each dish is based upon smells that are associated with that color. The surroundings and clothing of the waiters also change per course.

The Chromatic Dinner is a monochromatic, audio, visual, olfactory and culinary experience which plays with all the senses. This event is hosted by Feastown at EASTOWN, and feature tableware by notNeutral + fresh produce by Imperfect Produce. Spaces are extremely limited.

June 7 – 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

June 8 – 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

June 9 – 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Feastown at EASTOWN is at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
