Dolly Parton’s Songs Come to Life with Pacific Symphony

Pacific Symphony honors one of America’s most beloved storytellers with “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony” on November 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa.
Led by Principal Pops Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez, the multimedia concert takes audiences on a visual and musical journey through Dolly Parton’s songs, life, and stories. The performance features Dolly on screen, joined by a cast of guest vocalists and musicians performing new orchestral arrangements by David Hamilton.
Audiences will hear many of her greatest hits, including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You,” along with some of her personal favorites and selections from her upcoming Broadway musical.
Guest vocalists include Katelyn Drye of The Dryes, Hollie Hammel, and Julie Williams of “Color Me Country” and Black Opry. Additional featured musicians include Derek Drye on acoustic guitar, dobro, lap steel, and vocals; Lindsey Miller on guitar; Dean Berner on banjo and mandolin; Craig Nelson on bass; Ross McReynolds on drums; and Dustin Knock as technical director.

The resort’s popular Concerts Under the Stars series returns November 29 with ABBA Under the Stars, a lively evening of nostalgia and music beneath the coastal sky. Guests who dine or enjoy drinks onsite that night will receive complimentary parking with a $30 food and beverage purchase, making it an ideal Thanksgiving weekend escape.
To celebrate the start of the holiday shopping season, the resort’s Black Friday Sale begins November 10, offering up to 30% off stays of three nights or more for bookings made through December 2. The limited-time offer makes it easy to plan a spontaneous winter getaway filled with ocean views and the relaxed charm of Santa Barbara. Booking can be made here.
At The Set, the resort’s signature restaurant, Executive Chef Mary O’Neill has unveiled a new fall menu that highlights the comforting flavors of the season. Starters include Corn and Potato Bisque ($12) and Truffled Brussels Sprouts ($17). Entrées feature Crispy Chili Roast Salmon with jasmine rice pilaf and blistered tomatoes ($38), Foraged Mushroom and Sweet Pea Risotto ($25), and Spicy Burnt Chili Shrimp Pasta ($32). Desserts include Cappuccino Panna Cotta with salted caramel and candied pecans ($12) and a Seasonal Fruit Galette with vanilla bean ice cream ($14).
Behind the bar, “Harvest Sips” cocktails such as the Honey Pumpkin Whiskey Smash ($17), Apple Cider Mule ($16), and Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned ($17) capture the warmth of the season, perfect for a sunset toast by the ocean breeze.
