For steak aficionados, Chianina Steakhouse
02.21.17
There are so many great restaurants to enjoy during Dine Out Long Beach Restaurant Week 2.0 through Saturday, Feb. 25, and we highly recommend Chianina Steakhouse on Naples Island. It’s part of the acclaimed Michael’s Restaurant Group that also includes Michael’s on Naples, Michael’s Pizzeria, and the newest Working Class Kitchen.
For steak aficionados, this is the place to dine. Chianina has its own herd of cattle near Ogden, Utah (the only restaurant in the U.S. to breed and raise Chianina and serve it – no other restaurant in the U.S. offers Chianina steak). The only other place to enjoy this Italian beef is in Florence, Italy. Chef Bryant Taylor prepares Chianina as they do in Italy: grilled over an open flame, served rare and finished with olive oil (the absence of butter makes it a healthier way to enjoy beef). Chianina also offers vegetarian dishes such as butter sage gnocchi, seafood platter, risotto and pasta. Wine lovers will appreciate the 22-page Wine List curated by Sommelier and Managing Partner Massimo Aronne featuring vintages from Italy, California, France and more.
At Dine Out Long Beach Restaurant Week, you can enjoy a four-course dinner for $50 per person. The First Course, you have a choice of Trofie, Dungeness crab, basil and Fresno Chili; or Pork Belly with melted shallots and capers, frisee and brown butter hollandaise. The Second Course is your choice of Prime Strip Loin with charred scallion pesto, salsify, and Farmlot 59 arugula; or Mediterranean Sea Bass with broccolini, red cabbage and buerre rouge. The Third Course is a Fennel Cake with raspberry, white chocolate and lemon.
If you can make it on Thursday nights, it’s Bubbles & Shells at the bar and in the dining room featuring $7 glasses of Champagne, Cava, Prosecco and Sparkling Wines and oysters for $1.50 each.
Enjoy Happy Hour every night, including Friday and Saturday, at the restaurant’s bar featuring signature dishes such as the Chianina Burger for $7.50, Fried Duck Wings for $7 and House-made Piedmontese Corned Beef for $8 along with wine, beer and cocktail specials.
Open 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday; closed Monday; 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; and 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
