JDRF Dream Gala
02.28.11
Every time I hear that another child was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, my heart sinks. It’s life changing and a rough road for all involved.
And that is why I am even more thankful for the upcoming JDRF Dream Gala, “Imagine a World Without Diabetes” on Saturday March 12 at 5:30 p.m., at St. Regis Monarch Beach.
It’s well known in Orange County as a premier black tie gala, a chance to wear your fanciest clothes, enjoy a wonderful dinner and evening at the beautiful St. Regis. But for those of us connected to diabetes it’s a night where the community comes together with one mission: to raise much needed funds for those living daily with a complicated disease that’s very demanding, to improve lives of others, and to prevent future diagnosis.
There will be a spectacular silent auction where you can bid on incredible designer items, trips and more; wine connoisseurs can find premier labels at its wine auction; bid on once on a lifetime experiences at the live auction, and participate JDRF's signature Fund A Cure.
New this year, guests can stay after the gala, at “Club Imagine” and enjoy a chic lounge atmosphere with hosted cocktails, where you can relax, mingle, or dance the night away.
And imagine, after the evening when you’re driving home, or better yet staying at the Resort, you will have contributed to reaching a cure faster.
Tickets cost $500. Order your Gala tickets, view the auction items, here.

OC Music Tonight!
02.25.11
Tonight is the final free showcase for the 2011 OC Music Awards. Join five of the best live bands in Orange County tonight at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana as they compete for a chance to perform at the Grove in Anaheim on awards night.
Now in its tenth year, the live band finals are returning to The Galaxy to pay homage to both the venue's local heritage and the location where the firstOC Music Awards took place back in 2001.
Performing tonight are We Are The Arsenal (winners of the fan vote), Railroad to Alaska, Kiev, The Steelwells and Blok (pictured).
The finalists have already won an Ernie Ball Tour Pack filled with strings and accessories.
Last night, Micah Brown took home the title of Best Live Acoustic and earned a four-day recording session at Red Bull Studios, a $1,000 Best Buy gift card, an Ernie Ball Full Endorsement, the category title and performance slot at the Awards on March 5 at Grove of Anaheim.
Tonight's winner will receive the same plus a performance slot on the four Southern California 2011 Vans Warped Tour Dates.
