Classical Carnage at BLK Earth Sea Spirits

Wednesday’s aren’t just for wine anymore. BLK Earth Sea Spirits, the premier steak and seafood restaurant in downtown Huntington Beach, now has live music every Wednesday evening, when Classical Carnage plays on the patio from 7 to 10 pm. The popular band has a loyal following for its unique blend of rock and pop songs, played on classical instruments.
Classical Carnage performs an array of popular music ranging from classic rock by The Beatles, Mick Jagger and Led Zepplin, to modern hits by Coldplay, the Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga and more. The four-piece band play the songs on violins and a cello, and is happy to take requests, even handing out a brochure with its playlist to patrons.
BLK Earth Sea Spirits features contemporary American cuisine with an emphasis on grilled certified Kobe and Wagyu hand‑cut steaks, poultry and seafood. The sophisticated yet casual restaurant also offers an extensive wine list and selection of craft cocktails, as well as one of the largest ocean view patios in Orange County.
Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Soka University to Celebrate 12th Annual “Peace Gala”

Soka University will celebrate its 12th annual Peace Gala at its beautiful campus in Aliso Viejo on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction in the Founders Hall Art Gallery and then cross the bridge over Peace Lake to the main venue, where they will be welcomed by a performance by the SUA Taiko Drummers before a gourmet dinner, entertainment, live auction and dancing.
Special guest artist for the evening is multiple Grammy award winner, Jose Feliciano, who represents an international musical style that has influenced popular music for more than two generations.
The live auction will feature a guitar autographed by Taylor Swift, a $5,000 gift certificate for South Coast Plaza, and a wide selection of fine wines from around the world, among many other exciting items and experiences. Partially tax-deductible tickets to this elegant evening are $350. Proceeds from this year’s gala will help provide full tuition scholarships for admitted students whose families make $60,000 or less a year. For tickets and more information, visit here.
Each year, the Peace Gala raises funds for scholarships for Soka University students who come from around the world to experience Soka’s unique educational experience founded upon the principles of peace, human rights and the sanctity of life.
Soka University is a private, non-profit, four-year liberal arts college and graduate program. SUA offers an 8:1 student/faculty ratio and an average class size of 12.
