Santa Ana Sites presents Kaki King

08.17.16

You can take in a new concert experience with guitar virtuoso and composer Kaki King performing her groundbreaking multi-media work, “The Neck Is a Bridge to the Body” on Saturday, August 27 at 8:30 p.m., at The Ritz in downtown Santa Ana.

The Ritz is located just above the Yost Theater, and Brooklyn based Kaki King will perform with her custom white guitar that doubles as a video monitor. Projection mapping is used to cast images onto her guitar (and onto a screen behind her) as she throws down an acoustic set that's dynamic, emotional, and in sync with the imagery.

We are giving away a pair of tickets to the show, simply leave a comment on our Facebook, or Instagram @dailydoseoc. We'll select the winner on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Rolling Stone referred to King as “a genre unto herself,” -- a visionary at the forefront of her craft. This extraordinary concert experience is presented by Santa Ana Sites, a traveling art forum dedicated to bringing contemporary artists into unexpected spaces throughout Santa Ana.

“The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body” was produced in collaboration with Glowing Pictures (best known for their work with such artists as Animal Collective, David Byrne & Brian Eno, Beastie Boys, and TV On The Radio). An album of the same name, featuring the soundtrack from the show, was released last year.

The Ritz is an emerging performance and special events space featuring exposed high ceilings with skylights, oversized windows, hard wood flooring, and a custom bar add to the venue’s elegant yet underground feel.

Tickets: $15 Presale / $22 Door; $12 for students with ID

For tickets and more information visit santaanasites.com.

The Ritz is at 305 N. Spurgeon St. in Santa Ana.
