Chef-Driven Farmhouse Opens at Descanso Gardens
05.24.25
Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens, a new farm-to-table restaurant set in the heart of the 150-acre botanical garden in La Cañada Flintridge, will officially open Friday, May 30.
Created in collaboration with celebrated Southern California chef Rich Mead, Farmhouse brings a seasonal, locally sourced menu to one of L.A.’s most picturesque settings. Executive Chef Adam Cherney—formerly of A.O.C., Pace and Saltie Girl—leads the kitchen, drawing on more than 15 years of experience and a deep commitment to sustainable cuisine.
Lunch, dinner and weekend brunch will be offered daily, featuring standout dishes like cumin-spiced carrots with burrata and mint, grass-fed steak from Autonomy Farms, and seared salmon with heirloom grains and Thai vinaigrette. The menu is paired with a garden-to-glass cocktail program and a curated wine list.
The 7,800-square-foot space blends into the surrounding landscape with a warm, natural design—think reclaimed wood from Descanso trees, hand-painted murals, and greenery curated by the garden’s own horticultural team. An indoor/outdoor bar and lounge area create a relaxed yet refined setting, and an open kitchen invites guests to watch the culinary process unfold.
Dinner service begins at 5 p.m. on opening night. Farmhouse will also host seasonal events like Orchard Dinners and is available for special celebrations surrounded by the beauty of Descanso Gardens.
