San Pedro Fish Market Hosts Special Fundraiser for the Western Flyer’s Return
03.18.25
San Pedro Fish Market is celebrating the return of the legendary Western Flyer to the Port of Long Beach with a one-day fundraising initiative. On Saturday, March 22, 2025, the iconic waterfront restaurant will offer the special "Fisherman’s Wharf Tray," with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Western Flyer Foundation in support of its mission to promote ocean education, sustainability, and marine literacy.
The Western Flyer, the historic fishing boat made famous by John Steinbeck’s The Log from the Sea of Cortez, has been transformed into a floating classroom to inspire future generations of ocean stewards.
As part of the Western Flyer Open House Tours at Rainbow Harbor from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Alamitos Bay from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., visitors will have the rare opportunity to step aboard this storied vessel and witness its remarkable restoration firsthand.
Crafted exclusively for this event, the Fisherman’s Wharf Tray features a generous selection of fresh seafood inspired by the vibrant flavors of the California coast. Designed to serve four to six guests for $149.99, this limited-edition tray includes shrimp, whole lobster, fresh fish fillet, black mussels, calamari, crispy whole tilapia, sliced SPFM veggie mix, and corn on the cob. Guests dining at San Pedro Fish Market on March 22, 2025, can enjoy this special offering, knowing that a portion of their meal supports educational programs aboard the Western Flyer.
