Basilic Restaurant Now Offering Takeout!
05.05.20
Basilic Restaurant on Balboa Island is now open for takeout, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday evenings. Chef and restaurateur Bernard Althaus is serving his iconic French-Swiss favorites, with bottles of wine on sale for 15% off regular price. Pro tip: ask for a specific wine pairing recommendation to make the meal extraordinary special.
Some of our favorites? Chef’s daily soup creation is always amazing (and somehow miraculously vegetarian and dairy-free), the quintessentially Swiss raclette appetizer, as well as the whole grain mustard and rosemary crusted rack of lamb and shrimp risotto.
But from perfectly paired cheese and charcuterie plates and the blue crab salad to the daily catch, Zurich-style veal tenderloin, and Boeuf Bourguignon, the classic French-Swiss food means bringing fine dining home. Perfect for date nights, celebrations, and for when you simply need some of the best food Orange County has to offer.
The full takeout menu is available at basilicrestaurant.com/menus and can be called in to 949.673.0570 during open hours for pickup on Balboa Island at 217 Marine Avenue.

Girls Inc. of Orange County’s Online Fundraiser
05.05.20
Girls Inc. of Orange County (GIOC) girls are at risk and need your help! Luckily, the organization’s first-ever online fundraiser gives YOU the chance to do your part and donate so that the organization may continue providing online learning resources to combat the significant loss of learning during this time in addition to helping girls make healthy decisions while assuring them that they are not alone. The online fundraiser runs all week long through Monday, May 11.
Because of COVID-19 and with schools and community centers closed for the remainder of the school year, these girls are at risk of falling behind in addition to many now having to take on more responsibilities at home. Most of the girls that Girls Inc. of Orange County supports live in poverty, with 80% living in households with less than $50,000 in annual income, magnifying the stress and uncertainty of this time.
With all that is going on in our world, Girls Inc. of Orange County remains committed to inspiring Orange County’s girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Donations from GIOC’s online fundraiser will make all the difference to the girls who are counting on GIOC. With the community coming together to support these young girls, the organization will be able to further develop the online learning resources created to ensure girls do not fall behind academically. GIOC has already implemented online programming on GIOC’s YouTube channel – with videos for all age groups with topics such as read-aloud stories, positive self-talk, practicing kindness, fitness, nutrition, how to use Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and so much more.
Not only does donating help Girls Inc. girls during this critical time, but it will provide you with an opportunity to do something positive during this otherwise stressful and unknown time, resulting in a feeling of purpose and self-worth and also likely reducing anxiety. And today, May 5, is Giving Tuesday, making for an even more perfect opportunity to give back!
