Los Angeles Is Having a Moment in 2026

01.30.26

If 2026 travel is already on your radar, put Los Angeles right at the top of the list. The city is gearing up for an exciting year of sports, art, and culture. The New York Times recently named Los Angeles one of its top places to visit, and it is easy to see why.

From championship-level sports to long-awaited museum openings, the City of Angels will be buzzing with energy all year long.

Sports fans are in for a serious treat. February kicks off with the NBA All-Star Weekend, with the All-Star Game tipping off Sunday, Feb. 15 at Intuit Dome. It marks the seventh time the Los Angeles area has hosted the league’s biggest showcase, more than any other city.

Then comes the global spotlight. Los Angeles will host eight matches during the FIFA World Cup, including the U.S. Men’s National Team opener on June 12. Add in group-stage matches, knockout rounds through the quarterfinals, and more than a month of fan festivities, and the city will feel like the center of the sports universe.

The arts scene is matching that momentum. The new David Geffen Galleries at Los Angeles County Museum of Art will unveil a sweeping, 347,000-square-foot space designed to house more than 150,000 works from LACMA’s permanent collection. Four buildings become one fluid experience, and it is one of the most anticipated museum projects in the country.

Later in the year, another major debut arrives. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, opens Sept. 22 in Exposition Park. Expect everything from paintings and photography to comic art and magazine covers, all inside a striking, futuristic building that feels straight out of a movie set.

For travelers who want to be close to the action without feeling overwhelmed, West Hollywood is a smart home base. Walkable, stylish, and packed with dining and nightlife, it is minutes from many of the city’s biggest events and attractions.

The neighborhood has its own buzz in 2026, too. A new AIDS Monument is opening, Eat + Drink West Hollywood returns in March, and a new Public Hotel is set to debut along the Strip.

Right in the middle of it all is AKA West Hollywood, a stay designed for travelers who like space, style, and flexibility. The property offers residential-style accommodations along with amenities that make it easy to settle in, from a panoramic pool deck and residents-only lounge to a private cinema and a 24-hour Technogym fitness center. There is also indoor parking, pet-friendly living, and an open-air retail plaza featuring KITH and rotating lifestyle and wellness pop-ups.

AKA West Hollywood is located at 8500 West Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles.
