Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee Celebrates Turning Five
04.13.18
Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee in Costa Mesa turns 5 years-old and to celebrate; the beloved doughnut outpost will kick off a Celebrity Chef Series to run throughout the year, will go mobile with a brand-new Sidecar Truck, and will add a third brick-and-mortar location in Del Mar. They will also launch new branding and in-store activations that celebrate the company’s commitment to making their doughnuts differently and recognizing all the things that make their customers unique.
In the Sidecar Celebrity Chef Series, celebrated chefs will be creating their very own Sidecar doughnut flavor. Each chef’s flavor will be featured for one month at all Sidecar locations, and a portion of proceeds from the flavor will go to the chef’s charity of choice. LA Restauranteur Brooke Williamson of Playa Provisions, The Tripel, Hudson House Bar, Small Batch Ice Cream, and Da Kikokiko; and winner of “Top Chef” Season 14) will kick-off the series as its inaugural guest chef for April and her doughnut will raise money for the nonprofit No Kid Hungry. The series will continue during select months throughout the year with Chef Richard Blais of Juniper & Ivy, Crack Shack, and Flip; as well as best-selling author and “Top Chef” judge and Season 8 winner), Jessica Scott pastry chef at Puesto and winner of The Food Network's “Dessert Games” and more to be announced as they are confirmed.
On Saturday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the new Sidecar Truck will pop-up at Williamson’s Playa Provisions in Playa del Rey where she will serve up her designer flavor as well as select Sidecar classics from the truck.
Also, in April Sidecar will launch a brand-new Sidecar Truck which will have an ongoing calendar of pop-ups throughout Southern California, as well as be available for event hire. The new truck will harken back to the early days of Sidecar when the brand was initially launched in Orange County, through pop-ups by a restored Helm’s Bakery Truck. The new truck will be a more traditional, catering/food truck style vehicle equipped with multiple fryers and a walk-up window for service.
In late 2018, a third Sidecar brick-and-mortar will land in Del Mar at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center with a target opening month of September; the latest Sidecar location will offer all signature doughnut flavors and coffees, as well as will feature monthly rotating monthly flavors exclusive to the new location.
Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee is located at 270 E. 17th Street in Costa Mesa.
