The Year of the Rooster at Fashion Island and Irvine Spectrum Center

You can celebrate the Lunar New Year this weekend at Irvine Spectrum Center on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Giant Wheel Court, and at Fashion Island on Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Neiman Marcus—Bloomingdale’s Courtyard, with live entertainment at both centers from noon to 3 p.m.
The festivities will include traditional Chinese dragon dancing, Korean fan dancing, Asian calligraphy artist (at Fashion Island), a selfie station, themed stilt walkers, live classical Chinese musical performance with instruments; Lucky money envelopes containing $2 will be given to the first 500 guests at both Fashion Island and Irvine Spectrum Center
And, several stores and restaurants will be offering their own Lunar New Year promotions. At Irvine Spectrum Center, Capital Seafood Restaurant will be offering a special dim sum brunch starting at 10 a.m. with lucky red envelopes containing special Chinese New Year candy for guests. And, Honey & Butter, will be creating special macarons in fun animal shapes.
Starting at noon Jan. 29, guests at Neiman Marcus at Fashion Island will receive a skincare gift set for La Mer purchases of $350 or more while supplies last. Uno de 50 will be giving away an exclusive red bracelet with any purchase that Sunday.

The Super Bowl of Beer Pong

The place to be on Sunday at 2 p.m. if you love beer, ping pong and competition is at the Orange County Press Club’s annual Beer Pong Tournament at Henry’s Bar & Grill in Garden Grove. To participate you must be 21 years or older.
The event is FREE, but the Press Club is accepting donations to fund future events. Students are encouraged to register and represent their journalism/PR programs. You can come up with a creative team name. You must email event organizer Hannah Fry at Hannah.fry@latimes.com.
Henry’s Bar & Grill is at 10549 Stanford Ave. in Garden Grove.
