OC’s ONly Goat Yoga Event
04.18.18
The cutest baby goats will take over Centennial Farm at OC Fair & Event Center this Saturday as Orange County's only goat yoga event kicks off.
The Goat Yoga Experience & Fun Farm Day offers a unique opportunity to be part of the latest fitness sensation. It's a traditional yoga class with baby pygmy goats invited in to frolic, nuzzle and climb on class participants.
But there's more - and it's free! Although the two goat yoga sessions quickly sold out, there is plenty of goat fun to be had with goat selfie stations, playtime with goats, chick petting, and Centennial Farm is open for exploration - great for human and goat kids of all ages.
Come watch as Spectra Yoga of Costa Mesa offers two beginner-level sessions from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and again from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of Centennial Farm’s Millennium Barn. The Fountain Valley Cloverdales 4-H Club will supply cuddly baby goats to join in on the fun. The Farm is open until 4 p.m.
In addition to being a trending topic, yoga with goats has been credited with helping decrease stress and incite laughter while getting in those down dogs and cobras.
The event will also feature a bake sale and frozen fruit bars fundraiser and opportunity drawings for farm-fresh gift baskets, with proceeds benefiting the Fountain Valley Cloverdales 4-H Club and Centennial Farm. Exclusive souvenir T-shirts will also be sold.

New Podcast Tour Unites Orange County Creativity
04.17.18
1888's Why We Write: Orange County Roadshow highlights creative purpose and necessity in Orange County. Taking submissions from across the globe, this essay series stands as a manifesto to why writers put pen to paper. Each essay is less than 500 words, and everyone is invited to submit and share their work. Why We Write essays will be performed by invitation or through actors for international authors who can’t make the trip.
The Why We Write project was inspired by George Orwell’s 1946 essay “Why I Write.” 1888 developed this program to highlight our motives for writing and asked the community to share their story and join the conversation. Over the last month, this collaborative project received submissions from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Denmark, England, India, Indonesia, Israel, Malta, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Scotland, Singapore, United Kingdom, and 33 States in America.
The events will feature author readings from curated essay submissions and will be recorded for audio podcast and a special video documentary. Below is a list of events in Costa Mesa, Anaheim, and the City of Orange:
