Celebrity Cruises will be bringing its latest onboard experience to land with the modern cruise line’s new “A Taste of Film” event during the Newport Beach Film Festival, April 21-28.
The cruise line will join more than 25 of Orange County’s premiere restaurants offering culinary tastings at the Opening Night Gala on Thursday, April 21, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Fashion Island. Guests will be able to enjoy its Celebrity Cruises Wine Tasting Lounge featuring Jackson Family Wines. There will also be a special performance from KÀ by Cirque du Soleil at MGM Grand Las Vegas.
Then on Sunday, April 24 at the Port Theater in Corona del Mar from 2 to 5 p.m., Celebrity Cruises will screen “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” a film that tells the story of a feud between two adjacent restaurants in a French town: one operated by a recently relocated Indian family and the other a Michelin-starred French restaurant.
Guests will be transported by the Port Theater’s nod to the sea while viewing “The Hundred-Foot Journey” and savoring eight courses prepared by award-winning Chef Pascal Olhats, chef/owner of Pascal Restaurant, Café Jardine and Pascal Catering. The menu is inspired by the acclaimed film’s French and Indian cuisines. Each course will be perfectly paired with fine wines from Jackson Family Wines.
"A Taste of Film" is available onboard Celebrity Infinity and Celebrity Summit and will arrive onboard Celebrity Millennium next month. Along with the new Rooftop Terrace, complete with its large screen, lounges, cabanas, soundscape and decorative lighting, additional enhancements include the ships’ Penthouse and Royal Suites, and the conversion of both the Normandie and The Olympic specialty restaurants to one of Celebrity’s signature dining venues, Tuscan Grille, which will offer a new, modern experience.
The multi-sensory journey of "A Taste of Film" gives passengers a chance to enjoy a specific cultural, culinary or destination-based film, while dining on cuisine that brings the movie’s scenes to life through guests’ taste buds. The multi-course tasting menu is designed by Michelin-starred chef Cornelius Gallagher of Celebrity Cruises.
