Award-winning, Plant-based Superstars Open The Plot in Costa Mesa

Eco-conscious culinary duo Davin and Jessica Waite, renowned for their plant-based gem The Plot in Oceanside, and their sustainable seafood spot Wrench and Rodent Seabasstropub, along with Shoots Fish and Beer and Brine Box at Oceanside Pier, have opened the third outpost of The Plot

This new venture, nestled in the unique, yurt-like setting of Costa Mesa’s The CAMP, debuted on Friday, January 5th. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, The Plot at The CAMP extends its plant-based menu, complete with kombucha, craft beer, biodynamic wines, and a complementary beverage program.

The Plot's third location resonates with The CAMP's ethos of sustainability and community, a perfect fit for the Waites' vision of spreading their plant-based cuisine. The Costa Mesa expansion follows the Carlsbad Express location, enhancing their reputation as pioneers in San Diego’s culinary scene. Acclaimed for their innovative and sustainable seafood and plant-based dishes, The Plot has garnered accolades like San Diego Magazine’s “Best New Restaurant of the Year” in 2020 and VegNews’ “San Diego’s Best Vegan Restaurants” in 2022.

The Waites, committed to an eco-conscious approach, focus on full utilization of fresh ingredients, a philosophy they’ve championed since opening The Plot in South Oceanside in 2020. Their menu, void of processed proteins, sources produce from local growers and their own Plot Garden. The Plot's dishes redefine meatless dining, with creations like imitation crab from lion’s mane mushrooms and favorites such as Chickën and Waffles, Shepherd’s Pie, Beet Reuben, and Grilled Cabbage with lentil “caviar.”

Their dedication to sustainability has earned them recognition, including the 2022 California Travel Association Sustainability Advocate Award and the 2022 Outstanding Waste Prevention Award from the CRRA. Their goal transcends sustainability, aiming for regenerative practices that help repair the environment.

Jessica and Davin envision a dining experience that ignites conversations, supports local communities, and sparks joy with every meal. As Davin says, while his roots are in seafood, the future is increasingly plant-based.

The Plot at The CAMP, now open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, is located at 2937 Bristol Street, Suite E100 in Costa Mesa.
