Interview with a World Renowned Film Music Composer/Conductor

American composer/conductor Justin Freer was born and raised in Huntington Beach and went to UCLA. He’s one of the West Coast’s most exciting musical voices and a highly sought-after conductor and producer of film music concerts around the world.

As founder of CineConcerts, he’ll be coming to Segerstrom Center of the Arts next month to conduct an exciting live orchestra at The Godfather Live in concert on Saturday, Oct. 1, with two performances at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Freer will return in November to conduct the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in concert on November 11-13.

We were lucky enough to get an interview in to find out what it was like for Freer growing up in Huntington Beach, how he first discovered his love for music, and what he listens to on his playlist, among other things. You can read it here.

At The Godfather Live, the orchestra will perform Nino Rota’s iconic score along with the film’s traditional Italian folk music and jazz while the film is simultaneously shown in high definition on the big screen. It’s a one of a kind concert experience for all.

At Harry Potter in Concert, the live orchestra will perform, to picture, every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. You can relive the magic of the film in high definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score.

Tickets for The Godfather Live and Harry Potter Film Concert Series start at $49 are available online at SCFTA.org, by calling 714.556.2787 or at the box office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa.
